This Year's Model Updates:

The Silverado 2500HD now sports a new front fascia and revised side moldings and taillights. Top-of-the-line models also get power-folding heated mirrors with puddle lamps and turn signal indicators. On the inside, the Silverado offers numerous entertainment options including a Bose stereo system (with rear-seat controls on crew cab models), XM Satellite Radio and a rear-passenger DVD-based entertainment system (crew cab models only). The instrument panel and center console have been redesigned, and Chevrolet has added new seats, a more comprehensive driver information center and a dual-zone climate control system. On the hardware side, the standard 6.0-liter V8 gets electronic throttle control, as well as the ability to run exclusively on compressed natural gas (CNG) or a mix of CNG and gasoline.

Pros:
  • Powerful engine lineup, multiple drivetrain configurations, capable brakes, substantial towing and hauling capacities.
Cons:
  • Spotty build quality, mediocre interior materials.

  • Is this what Chevy has to offer? - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

I am a First time Chevy owner, ex ford guy. I am thinking I made a mistake with this purchased truck on Mon. evening and it was in the shop Tues. night with a bad tranny. Never had a problem with my Fords.

This vehicle is totally unreliable due to excessive and severe electrical/computer problems that Chevrolet cannot fix. The Duramax diesel is not as economical as my Ford 7.3l Diesel. The salesperson lied when he said the Duramax diesel will not "stink" like a Ford. It does!!!!

Wonderful truck in the snow! Gas mileage is what you would expect, lousy. Alternator chewed up rear bearing at 62,000 miles. Seems to rust easy, all front brake lines are very rusty. Had a scare recently, when engine stalls you have no brakes! I guess that would be my only serious complaint about the hydraulic brake system.

  • Fuel Injector problems - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

Paid all cash and had hopes for many years of good use. At about 90K we had fuel injector problems which were repaired under warranty. 50K later at 140,000 we began to see smoke from the tail pipe. Took the car into Chevy service and was told that two or three injectors were beginning to fail, but that they still tested to be acceptable by GM standards. The car billowed smoke, a few weeks later we found fuel in our motor oil. Still no budge from GM to repair the injectors which were covered under a extended warranty but still tested within their standards. GM didnt care if we blew our motor as it wasnt covered. Were done with GM.

  • This truck is no good - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

I have owned 9 new vehicles in my life with 4 of them purchased to use for a business. This truck is by far the worst vehicle I have ever owned. I have never had so many different things wrong with one vehicle. Today was the last straw. 40,000 miles and the water pump is out. This vehicle has had electrical problems and still does, radio issues 5 different factory radios,it is on its 3rd exhaust system, tailgate latch issues, seat covers defective, seat belts wearing out and fraying, suspension issues in the front that a frame shop had to repair steering shaft had to be replaced the threshold on the rocker panel was broken and had to replaced. I am running out of room to name everthing

I have owned my chevy for almost four months now. It has spent EIGHT days in the shop already. It started with the "service 4 wheel drive" light. Then it started locking the doors all the time, even when it was suppose to unlock them. The dealership has replaced switchs, The TCCM, and two encoder motors. The second motor was the redesigned one. They are now telling me that a re-redesigned encoder motor is available only through district reps. In other words they may or may not have a part that will fix the problem. DONT BUY THIS TRUCK!

I had to take the Truck in 4 times to get the AC worked on, they replace the compresor once and still takes 4 to 5 minutes to start to get cold air from the AC system. NO good when you live in Florida. I see alot of people with chevrolet truck with one burn driving light and now I join them 600 Hour on the Enging and already changing a bulb, I dont think is very good qualaty. and last thing. DO NOT drive your truck in the woods, any brush will scratch your pain, again low quality.
